Introduction

Segment Tag adds a label to every reader who views a page matching your rules, such as a section, a category or a campaign landing page. Nothing is shown on the page.

Tags work for anonymous readers and registered users alike. They turn reading into audiences you can target with experiences and offer to advertisers.

Features

1No click needed
Readers are tagged just by reading, so you build interest audiences from your content without asking for anything.
2Rule-based
Deliver the tag with Orchestration, using the same page and audience rules as any other experience.
3JavaScript API
Tag readers from your own code when something happens on the page, for example after a quiz answer or a video view.
4Ready for advertisers
Segments built from tags can be shared with your ad stack as first-party audiences.

Use cases

  • Build an audience of readers of a section or a sponsored series.
  • Tag readers who reach a campaign landing page.
  • Offer interest audiences to advertisers in Google Ad Manager and Prebid.

How it works

Create a Segment Tag experience with a tag name and add it to an Orchestration with the pages or readers to tag. Then create a segment with Tags (last 30 days) contains your tag name.

  • Tag names use lowercase letters, numbers, - and _.
