Visitor Profile

Overview

UniSignIn keeps a first-party profile for every returning visitor, whether they are logged in or not. Profiles power Segments, Orchestration targeting, the Audience Overview and Ad Targeting.

There are two kinds of profile:

  • Registered user: a logged-in user, identified by their user ID. All devices the user has logged in on are combined into one profile.
  • Anonymous visitor: a visitor who isn't logged in, recognised on each device. When they log in, their reading history moves to their user profile.

Where profiles come from

Profiles combine the visitor's reading across all your sites. Registered users also get their registration details, the data they gave you, their subscription and their email engagement.

Where GDPR applies, profiles are only built and used with consent for TCF purpose 1. Bots don't get a profile.
