Run Newsletters with UniSignIn

Overview

UniSignIn keeps each reader's newsletter choices on their profile, collects sign-ups on your site, sends subscribers to your email platform and tracks how they engage. You keep sending the newsletters from your email platform, such as Mailchimp or Iterable.

1. Create a field for each newsletter

In Data Management → User Data → Data Schema, add a yes/no field for each newsletter, e.g. newsletter_daily and newsletter_sport. Turn on Email subscription status for each of them, so subscribers count in the Audience Overview and segments. See Profile Fields.

2. Collect sign-ups

  • Email Subscription experience: a sign-up box on your pages, with a checkbox for each newsletter. See Email Subscription.
  • Registration and forms: add the newsletter fields to your sign-up form or a Data Form.
  • Confirm Button: a one-click opt-in for logged-in readers. See Confirm Button.

Show these experiences to the right readers with Orchestration, for example readers who are engaged but not yet subscribed.

3. Send subscribers to your email platform

Create an export in Data Management → Data Exchange so new subscribers and changes reach your email platform:

4. Track opens and clicks

Add Email Tracking to your newsletter template. Opens and clicks are added to each reader's profile.

5. Measure and target

  • The Audience Overview shows how many readers subscribe to your newsletters, and which topics and experiences bring new subscribers.
  • Build segments such as engaged readers who are not subscribed, or subscribers who stopped opening, and reach them on your site.

Unsubscribes

Emails that UniSignIn sends, such as welcome and password emails, include a link where readers can manage their email preferences. When a reader unsubscribes there, the newsletter field is updated and the change is sent to your connected email platforms.
