Live Blog

Overview

Live Blog turns an article into a live feed of short posts for breaking news, matches and events. Your editors write posts on the article page itself. Readers see new posts without reloading, and can react, comment on posts and vote in polls.

Set up

  1. Add the Live Blog container to the article template, see Put it on your pages.
  2. Give each person who will post the Editor role: go to Data Management → User Data, open their profile, click the edit icon and set Roles to Editor for the project, then save.
  3. The editor signs in on your site and opens the article. The editor panel shows above the feed.

Write and manage posts

In the editor panel:

  • Headline: set the headline of the live blog.
  • Status: click Go Live to open coverage, or End Coverage when the event is over. Readers see a Live or Ended badge.
  • Write a post with a title and content. Use bold, italic, underline, quotes and links, add an image, a tweet or a YouTube video by pasting its URL, and insert sport icons such as goals, cards and substitutions.
  • Add poll to ask readers a question with answer options.
  • Preview the post, then click Publish.

On each published post, editors can Pin it to the top (and Unpin it), edit it or delete it.

Track

Go to Features → Liveblog to see every live blog by article, with its project, number of posts and reactions. Search by article ID. Open a live blog to see:

  • its status (Live or Ended)
  • a chart of recent views and reactions over 1 day to 3 months
  • every post with its author, time, votes, comments and reactions, with pinned posts marked

Put it on your pages

Place the container where the feed should appear:

<div data-exp="unis-liveblog" data-post-id="ARTICLE_ID"></div>

data-post-id is required. Use a unique ID for each live blog, such as your CMS article ID. You can also choose a card layout and insert ads between posts, see the attributes in Set up experiences on your website.
